Sonar Kila or the Jaisalmer Fort is the crowned on the 80m high Trikuta Hill. About one fourth of the old city's population resides within the fort. Akal Fossil Park is one of the best excursions around Jaisalmer containing 180 million year old fossilized remains. Among the other places, which you can check out around Jaisalmer, are Amar Sagar, Bada Bagh & Cenotaphs, Lodhurva, Kuldhara, Ram Kunda, Khuri and Mool Sagar.
